Day 11: Bay of Fundy

Enjoyed a delicious breakfast buffet to start the day. This morning we spent 1.5 hours exploring the Citadel, visiting the many rooms within and below its walls. We walked the dark narrow
passages between bunkers and enjoyed the military museum with displays from the 17th century to present. Drove north to Joggins Fossil Cliffs where we traveled back 300,000,000 years to when horsetails were 10 m tall. We took a 30 min tour and were shown a variety of different fossils, then spent some time looking on our own. There were examples everywhere because
they continuously fall from the eroding cliffs. The area is also the site of a former coal mine so we were able to see intact coal seams which was very cool. We continued driving along the Bay of Fundy to Saint John. Made a quick stop at Hopewell Rocks to see what the area looks like at high tide and paused for photos at an old covered bridge.
